Strategic planning is underway for the area’s roading network following on from the construction of Takitimu Drive and the new toll road between Tauriko and the city, and the duplication of the Harbour Bridge.

The region’s District Councils and Transit New Zealand have entered into a partnership agreement and established “access” to manage and co-ordinate planning efforts.

A future strategic network has been identified and investigation is underway on upgrades or bypasses for:
